Lets get our facts straight before I freak: Alien 9 was originally a 3 (4 if you include the 1 volume of Alien 9: Emulators) volume manga series written by Hitoshi Tomizawa. The first 1 and a half (stops in the middle of volume 2)volumes were turned into a 4 episode OVA series, which thus starts my Ranting.........

WTFH!!!!!!!!!! I hate you people who animated and scripted this!! why did you do that!?!? WHY!?!? *hyperventalates* Seriously! Giving us a pretty satisfying ending, then when we're finally starting to relax during the finaly credit scenes, you go and give us one little clip, JUST ONE, and you probobly made half of the people watching this stare in shock at their screens, and then the other half did either 1 or more of the following: have a heart attack, faint, hyperventalate, freak out of their minds, or start verbally ranting and swearing at their screen, probobly saying something like "WHAT THE F***?!?! HOW?! WHAT?!? THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!?! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!? YOU DID WHAT!?!"
I KNOW you want to sell more books and get more people into the series (good thing it is a ver good series) but this is just cruel!!! Its like kicking a sick puppy!! Giving it that sort of ending made me do a double take, and then when the single part of my very freaked and fried brain that actually worked finally gave me a thumbs up and goes "Yep, that the real ending." I nearly broke something (namely my head when I nearly fell out of my chair)!! I'm sure quite a few other people did too!
I know I might be throwing this a LITTLE out of proportion (maybe >.> ) but I really did freak! That has to be the worst and most evil ending in the history of all the anime I have ever watched, and believe me I've gotten some pretty bad cliffhangers, but this one litteraly makes you dangle, hanging there by a shoelace, and the fact that the manga isn't even easy to find doesn't help at all, so it isn't even easy to just continue from there and read the rest! *sobs* Ugh, stupid cliff. And to my favorite character too!!
*takes a deep breath* ok I think I'm good now, sorry to make your ears bleed! Going back to drawing (or sleeping) now!
EDIT:
Ok, so I had a discussion with someone about this series, and, since they are a little older and wiser then I am (they also assited with its release), I'm starting to see the series from the emotional and metiphorical standpoint. Considering how think my head is, I often need people to help me with this, since I have a tendancy to watch animes as just that, a show, nothing metaphorical about it at all. Their view point lead me to going back over the anime in my head, and by joe, they are quite acurate in what some of the stuff in A9 could mean. They wrote an essey on the subject here: [link] and I think that, anyone who has watched the series the way I did and who had the same reaction as me, should go and give it a read, it might help you understand why they ended it the way they did.
Now, I'm not changing my opinion on the ending or anything I said above, I still think I could go and bad mouth the scripters for doing so. But now I think I can more accept what the anime meant, and accept the ending as a message in between the scenes. I really encourage people to go and read her essay, as it has some really good points that are worth thinking about, despite how unpleasant they are and how much we might dislike it.
Edit: FIxed the link sorry about that.
